Join us for a lively and educational student and community matinee exploring the vibrant Afro-Puerto Rican musical traditions of Bomba and Plena, presented by Kadencia.
This engaging performance invites students and the wider community to learn about the history, rhythms, instruments, and cultural significance of Bomba and Plena through live music and conversation. Led by Maurice “Tito” Sanabria, Kadencia’s small ensemble will demonstrate the percussive patterns and musical structures that define these powerful traditions, while sharing the stories and heritage behind them.
This event is free and open to students and community members, with RSVP required for all attendees. Schools and classes are welcome to register, and families, homeschool groups, and individual community members are encouraged to attend.
