2026 SOUTHEASTERN BASS SERIES

SBS is a group of anglers who desire to compete in local bass tournaments with low entry fees, 100% payback and no drama.

2026 VOLUNTEERS

  • Coordinator: Carlton Owens
  • Tournament Director: Ronnie Ketchum
  • Weighmaster: Scott Scheil
  • Secretary: Donald Carter
  • Social Media: Jim Funk.

OPERATING PROCEDURES

  1. A fee of $100 will be collected from each person wishing to become a member. Those funds will be paid back at the end of the season as follows: $300 to the angler of the year (AOY). Remaining cash goes the winner of the SBS Classic.
  2. Regular tournament entry fee is $60. Of which, $10 will go toward big fish of the tournament.
  3. You must fish at least 3 regular tournaments to be eligible for the classic.
  4. Members may bring a guest to fish out of the members boat. The guest will be required to enter the tournament and weigh in their own fish (no teams). Guests may not fish more than 1 tournament.
  5. Members may bring a minor relative to fish out of the members boat. The minor may or may not enter the tournament. The member must weigh in his/her own fish (no teams).
  6. The SBS is NOT a team tournament format.
  7. Individual anglers are responsible for their own safety. Minimum safety requirements are set forth by the laws in effect at the tournament location. If an angler believes the weather is unsafe, but the tournament is not canceled, it is that angler’s choice to fish or not. Anglers are liable for their own decisions.
  8. Participants are required to wear a coast guard approved life jacket when their boat is on plane.
  9. AOY standings are calculated using a point system. If you fish a tournament and zero you will receive one less point than the last place angler that weighed in fish. All anglers worst 2 finishes of the year will be dropped from AOY points calculations.
  10. Tournament hours are set forth by the Tournament Director and are subject to change at blast off for safety or other reasons.
TOURNAMENT RULES

  1. All boats must have a fully functional livewell, capable of keeping a tournament limit alive.
  2. Only largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass can be weighed in.
  3. All fish must be caught in a traditional sporting manner using only artificial lures. Trolling as a method of fishing is not allowed.
  4. The tournament limit is 5 fish. Minimum length for fish is in accordance with state law but will not be less than 12”.
  5. The penalty for bringing to the scale an undersized fish will be forfeiture of that fish and your largest fish. All fish shall be measured from the tip of the closed mouth to the tip of the fanned tail. No courtesy checks.
  6. A four-ounce (.25 pound) penalty will be deducted from the total weight for each dead fish during a tournament weigh-in. If an angler’s big fish is dead, the four-ounce penalty will apply for big fish purposes.
  7. A contestant that is late for weigh-in will be disqualified. You must be close enough to the weigh-in site to be identified before tournament hours end.
  8. Any protests will be informal (verbal) and must be made ASAP but no later than when the scales close. Discuss with the tournament director and/or coordinator.
  9. In case of tie, the heavy fish breaks the tie. If both anglers did not weigh a big fish prior to releasing their creel, a coin toss will decide if both competitors and the tournament director cannot come to an alternate agreement.
  10. No culling of fish at dockside. Any angler presenting more than a five fish limit will be disqualified and zero points awarded. Double checking the length of one of your five fish at the dock does not constitute culling for this rule.
