Lunch & Learn: Hessians in Isle of Wight County

The term “Hessian” refers to the approximately 30,000 German troops hired by the British to help fight during the American Revolution. Today, on the 250th anniversary of the first landing of German soldiery in America as “auxiliaries” of King George III’s Crown Forces to subdue the rebellious colonials, we will highlight their story to include those who fought here in Isle of Wight County.
