The End of the Cold War

In 1989, U.S. President George H.W. Bush and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev declared the Cold War over during a summit in Malta. Join us as we commemorate the end of the four-decades-long Cold War with artifacts from the museum’s collection, the story of Carrollton’s Nike-Ajax anti-aircraft missile base, a discussion of Cold War-era pop culture and the debut of the museum’s publication telling this story. It will be available for purchase in the museum’s gift shop.
